Our technology

At Owl Optometry we invest in the latest cutting-edge technology so that we can catch and treat eye disease sooner. These new innovations have changed the way optometrists are able to diagnose and treat certain eye conditions.

  • Eidon

Digital retinal images are non-invasive, quick and safe for your eyes. The doctors can then analyze the ultra high-resolution image and make a diagnosis of several eye diseases including:

    • Glaucoma

    • Age-related macular degeneration

    • Diabetes and associated retinopathy

    • Vascular changes associated with systemic diseases such as hypertension of high blood pressure

    • Retinal tears and detachments

  • Revo OCT

Optical Coherence Tomography is recognized as an invaluable tool to detecting and diagnosing eye diseases. It is a non contact and a non-invasive method of providing cross-sectional images of the cornea, iris, retina and optic nerve.

Due to its extremely high resolution it allows for diagnosis of several conditions such as:

    • Age Related Macular Degeneration

    • Glaucoma

    • Optic Nerve Disease

    • Diabetic Retinopathy

    • Retinal tears and detachments

  • Visual Field testing is a simple, non-invasive test to measure your field of vision. It is used as a standard measurement for glaucoma progression as well as neurological conditions such as strokes or brain tumors, and to rule out central vision changes due to certain medications.

  • ICARE

Gone are the days of the “air puff” test! We use the newest tonometer from Icare which allows for comfortable measurement of eye pressure without discomfort or the need for anesthetic drops.

  • Corneal Topographer

Corneal topography is a special photography technique that maps the surface of the clear, front window of the eye (the cornea). A topograph scan allows a doctor to find distortions in the curvature of the cornea, which is normally smooth. It also helps doctors monitor eye disease and plan for surgery. It is frequently used to rule out certain corneal diseases such as keratoconus as well as for accurate contact lens fittings.
